There is a lot more you can do with protein powder than simply mixing it into a shake. Although some shakes can be tasty, anything repetitive can get boring sooner or later. Even our weight training or exercise regimes can get tedious, so we mix them up a little. In fact, variety can often improve and speed up progress. So here are some easy recipes and suggestions for how to bring variety to your protein powder snacks. If you're like me, having a healthy recipe that is quick and easy, will deter me from eating junk!
Chocolate Protein Cookies
I love cookies and with the right ingredients we can make real healthy ones. This recipe makes 4 cookies. Each cookie is approximately 500 calories.
2 scoops of chocolate protein powder of your choice.
2 tablespoons of splenda or stevia
2 cups of 1 minute oats
4 tablespoons of peanut butter
2 tablespoons of cacao
Put all ingredients into a mixing bowl. Slowly add water as you begin mixing everything together. You don't want it to get runny, so add enough water to make the mixture a bit gooey. You can now separate the mixture into quarters to shape into 4 cookies. Put them in the freezer for 5 minutes and they will firm up nicely.
Protein Oats
This is a real simple snack for breakfast. Cook oats the way you like them, but add more water or/and milk than normal. Protein powder is dry, so you need the extra liquid to stop the oats from getting dry. Add 1 scoop of vanilla protein powder and mix well. I also like to add some fresh blueberries to the mix and sprinkle with fresh chopped nuts.
Chocolate Protein Bars
8 scoops of chocolate whey protein powder
2 cups of 2% milk
1 packet of pudding mix - sugar free
3 cups of 1 minute oats
Place all the ingredients into a mixing bowl and mix well. Transfer the ingredients to an eight by eight baking pan. There is no need to cook the mixture, leaving it in the fridge overnight will harden it enough to make bars. Cut the bars to your preferred size. If you cut the mixture into 6 equal bars, 1 bar will provide you with 490 calories and 46g of protein.
