3 Must-Have Guitar Accessories That Won’t Cost The Earth

Most guitarists know how easy it is to spend a lot of money on guitar gear, and a lot of the time this gear ends up hardly being used at all - not exactly the best use of your hard earned cash. However, there are some guitar accessories which are not only very useful, but which cost very little as well. Let's take a closer look at three of these.

1. A Guitar String Winder

The first essential accessory for any guitarist is a guitar string winder. This simple tool slots over your tuning pegs, and makes it quick and easy to tighten or loosen strings when changing them. This is good for anyone with any kind of finger pain which is aggravated by twisting the pegs repeatedly, as well as people who need to change their guitar strings quickly, such as in a performance situation.

In addition, you can get guitar string winders with additional features. These include the ability to take out the pins of acoustic guitar strings from the bridge, and cutting tools, so you can trim your strings down to size while changing them.

2. Electronic Tuners

Another very useful guitar accessory that won't break the bank is an electronic tuner. Getting your guitar in tune should be your first priority before you start playing, because not only does an out of tune guitar sound painful to listen to, but it will negatively affect your pitch perception as well.

While all guitarists should also know how to tune their guitars manually without relying on electronic tuner, it's still very useful to have in many situations. For example, it's good to use an electronic guitar tuner when speed and accuracy are of paramount importance, such as when you're in a recording studio or performing live. They're also a good idea for new guitarists who haven't yet mastered the art of tuning their guitars in the traditional manner.

3. Guitar Pick Holder

The guitar pick holder is another very useful little guitar accessory that will benefit most guitarists, and hardly costs anything at all. These small plastic containers will hold a number of plectrums, and are very easy to carry around in a pocket or your guitar case. They also usually have an adhesive side which can be stuck onto your microphone stand, or even onto your guitar. Pick holders are also available on keychains, necklaces and similar items, which provide an alternative way to keep your guitar picks with you so you know where they are.

As you see, not all guitar gear has to cost a lot, and it's good to know that some of the most useful guitar accessories are also among the least expensive.
