Buying A Gas Grill For The Barbecue Season

Winter is almost over and Spring is on its way. This has been one of the worst winters on record. With beginning of Spring comes the start of Barbecue Season. One way I have been keeping myself from getting cabin fever is by planning the first barbecue of the season. I want it to be a big event so I am looking to buy a bigger newer gas grill.

On the days that I am stuck inside I have been looking at gas grills online trying to find the perfect balance of features and price. I have learned a few general things about buying gas grills. I guess the most important question everyone wants answered is; how do know I am getting my money's worth?

The most important thing to keep in mind is to set a budget and stick to it. If you don't set a budget you will waste a lot of time looking a grills that are simply too expensive. Not only that, but you waste a lot of time trying to find a cheaper grill that has the same bells and whistles as a more expensive one. Remember there is always a three way trade off between price, quality, and characteristics. So, if you do find that cheap gas grill that does have the bells and whistles, it is almost guaranteed to not be a quality appliance.

The next thing to consider is whether or not you are really set on a gas grill. Charcoal grills are, in general a bit cheaper. But, to a certain extent they are a bit more difficult to control. So, if you are really have a small budget you may want to reconsider charcoal grills. But, for me I prefer gas grills. I think they burn cleaner, heat is distributed more evenly, and the food - to me - tastes better.

One thing I have found to be the greatest in my quest is reading reviews. You learn so much from reading reviews. You learn about grill specs, what those specs mean, how important certain aspects of a grill are and what is marketing fluff. If you are considering buying a gas grill online then you will definitely want to read as much as possible about the one you are interested in. If you are considering buying it from a retail store take what the sales person says with a grain of salt. Remember they are there to sell you something. Listen to what they have to say and then go home and look the information up.

Here are a few things to consider when narrowing down your choices:

1. Price and your budget.
2. Manufacturer reputation. Is it a quality product that they will stand behind?
3. How many burners do you want?
4. Is natural gas or propane more readily available in your area?
5. How big of a grill space do you need?
6. Do you want a side warmer?

Gas grills can be expensive. A good one will last many many years. Take your time in making your choice. If you make a good choice and a right choice for you, then you will have a easy and fun barbecue season that will be enjoyed by all your friends and family.
