If you are a Bette Midler fan then you had better watch out: her latest film role is that of a nutty feline intent on global domination.
Cats and Dogs: Revenge of Kitty Galore - newly-released in 2010 – is an American comedy which features cat and dog populations joining forces to prevent this crazy cat achieving her goal.
Directed by Brad Peyton, it is a sequel to the 2001 film Cats and Dogs and should be a barrel of laughs. Roger Moore is listed among the cast and we're promised 3D viewing in selected cinemas.
The earlier film told the story of a cat called Mr Tinkles and three dogs – Buddy, a Bloodhound; Lou, a Beagle puppy and Butch, an Anatolian Shepherd.
The plot of that first one revolved around Mr Tinkles and his accomplices trying to steal a dog allergy cure.
The third feline-canine American comedy that comes to mind is The Truth about Cats and Dogs, which is a romantic comedy featuring a vet and his radio station.
Oh, and for those who haven't encountered an Anatolian Shepherd before, it's a great big muscular animal. Rather like a Boxer, with a curled up tail.
The breed is believed to have originated in Mesopotamia and imported to the West from central Turkey. These dogs belong to a comparatively rare breed, so there are not many of them about today.
By the way, don't confuse Kitty Galore with Pussy Galore, an entirely different sort of character.
James Bond enthusiasts will immediately recognise the latter as the villainess in the film Goldfinger, portrayed so magnificently by the beautiful British actress Honor Blackman.
Other films in which Miss Blackman has starred include Fame is the Spur (1947), So Long at the Fair (1950, The Square Pet (1958), A Night to Remember (1958), The Cat and the Canary (1979) and Bridget Jones' Diary (2001).
