Being accepted for a job with the United States Census Bureau depends solely on your census test scores. The Census employment test itself is not so complicated with only twenty-eight questions to answer. However, the exam limit is only thirty minutes so you need to cram in everything within that period.
There are various subjects that are covered by multiple choice types of questions. To get yourself prepared, you can take the Census practice test. This is a good way to get used to the time limit. It's important that you don't miss answering questions simply because you've run out of time, as you cannot miss more than ten questions on the test. Doing so will make you ineligible for a position with the bureau. You should also be at the testing site with a lot of time to spare.
The recommended time allowance is two hours. This is to allow you to complete a job application form, which the recruiter will require you. There are also procedures for checking your identity papers, so be sure to have two valid identification cards or your US passport with you. Making sure that you have enough time to complete these procedures will help you get higher census test scores as you will be much more relaxed when taking the test.
In many cases, the tests are graded by the test proctor as you wait. So before you leave, you already know what score you got. The passing rate is seventy. Veterans though get to have an additional five or ten point (for disabled veterans) bonus added to their scores. After passing the exam, you will have to wait for the bureau to call you. The census test is bogus. I took The test four times. First time I answered about twenty Questions. I got a score of 72. They are giving a score of 70 for only ten correct answers. I took the test second tgime a week later. I answered about the same questions. I got a score of 80. I took the test again the very next day. I answered all the questions. But I guessed the answered to last four questions. I got a score of ninety. Thsat was last friday. I took the test today. I understood all the questions because I did not have to take too much time gto answer the questions I understand. For example people arecomplaining what the double underlinfg means in ther question 28. It steas there clearly that units that are unoccupied are double under lined. The Question 27 was very confusing to me all three times. It lists lots of blanks and gives no infotmation as to any. Like on the left is the answer yes. On the right is the answer no. There are some six or seven units. No indication about whether the censsus taker answered yes or no. That answer is given in the question. It asks if the guy replied no to the question what question you’ll ask next. In that blank the answer is given. If the answer is no to question three skip to Question five. Obviouslyif the answer is yes you have to go to question three. But if the answer is no you have to skip to question five. In some question this stipullation is if they answer yes but not if they answer no. So I answered it.
But my score was only 80. I answered all the questions and my answer was only 80 (10 lesws than when I did not answer 5. I know why. They do not look at your answer. They place a yellow sheet with the right answer over your answer sheet. They do not care if the answer sheet is properly placed. They place it. If your answer is not over the rifght answer they score your answer wrong. Last time I got lucky. The way they placed the answer sheet my wrong answers got matched with their correct answers.
I’m very disapponted. But this is it. I’m not going to take the test again. In any case they are not done giving tests. They were giving several tests daily. But as of this week they will be giving only once or twice every week.

i thought the test was VERY reasonable. yea, for the dummies its very easy to fall for their trap because its all about eye training and how well you can pick out the minor differences in their data. like how it should be in all numerical criteria jobs.
