Closet Organizers and Storage Accessories

Just like the attic and similar to the garage, the closet is an area that easily gets out of control if you don't pay attention and take the intention to specifically organize the items inside it. The irony is that it's actually a very simple thing to do if one just takes a few minutes to set up a good organizer system to both organize and sort their clothes from the start, instead of always working backwards trying to find the items that are lost in the disorderly mess that has taken over the closet.

There are dozens of different storage closet accessories available these days. There is a tool for organizing everything from your socks to your ties, from your wardrobe closet storage set up to the way you hang your clothes. If you need help straightening it out, companies like Rubbermaid and John Louis Closets will give you the tools to maximize such wardrobe items.

But out of all those different tools, what are the top items that you can use to leverage the most organization out of, so to speak? In other words, say you could only buy two or three closet organizers - what would you buy?

While the answer is going to be a little different depending on your needs, I think we can come up with a list that will satisfy most. This takes into the worst problem areas of closet organization and seeks to solve them with an easy solution. Let's start with shoes. Shoes are an easy culprit, yet if there's no way to organize them, they will certainly get out of control. The answer is as simple as it is obvious - use a shoe rack or a shoe organizer. Spending as little as ten dollars can get you a shoe rack from Target that will organize a dozen pairs of shoes. Not having one just doesn't make sense. A second item that's simple and easy to set up is a hanging set of closet shelves. Specifically, I'm talking about the type that hang from the closet rod. This will give you about six to eight shelves to place whatever you need into a small storage box. This also costs not much at all - about $10 to $20 from a store like Target or Ikea. Finally, to seal the deal on organizing your closet storage and the items in your closet, simply buy a Rubbermaid shelf that attaches to your closet rod. Both the single and double shelf cost the same amount, strangely, so the easiest thing to do is to buy the double rack. It will attach effortlessly to your existing closet rod and instantly set you up with two full size shelves. Trust me, these shelves will be put to good use!

Organizing a closet isn't necessarily fun or a exciting way to spend an afternoon. But the good news is you buy a few closet organizers, such as the ones mentioned above, you won't even have to spend more than hour to organize your closet! In fact, within one hour you will likely take a messy closet and organize it completely with the tools mentioned above. What are you for?
