Have you ever rushed home from work, school or doing something to catch your favorite TV show when it aired on TV? If you have you may have also rushed home only to find out that it isn’t on that week or they are airing a rerun. The network broadcasts of these shows can sometimes change abruptly and you never know from week to week if it will be a new episode or an old episode. Today we don’t have to hurry home to watch our favorite shows because many more options have become available. Two of those ways are by using a DVR or getting your favorite TV shows on DVD. I like to use both options and watch shows that are currently airing on my DVR and older seasons on DVD.
DVRs allow you to set up recordings by time, channel or even the title of the show and if you set up a season pass by the title it will catch all of the listings and make sure they are recorded. You only have to set it up once and then there is no more worrying about whether you are going to miss the new episodes. Unfortunately, the DVRs that come from your cable or satellite company have a limited amount of hard drive space available to record so if you aren’t careful or you go out of town or something the shows can really add up and there won’t be enough room to record new episodes.
Getting a show on DVD is another alternative that lets you not worry about missing the episodes, or allows you to catch up on episodes you may have missed. They are often packed with extras, like behind the scenes, extra scenes or extended coverage of the scenes. This can be a great way to get even more out of your favorite television shows than you could on TV or a DVR. I personally own quite a few TV on DVDs. I enjoy watching the One Tree Hill DVD because it has a lot of stuff you just can’t find anywhere else.
Lastly, although you won’t get any more added viewing pleasure you can also buy soundtracks for different shows. Shows like One Tree Hill and Grey’s Anatomy, amongst others, have released some of the best songs they have played on their shows. It is a great way to enjoy the music that so often sets the mood in your favorite shows and chances are if you enjoy a show your probably love their music too.
