Located on the southern Costa Del Sol and only twenty five kilometres away from Malaga International Airport, Fuengirola has become a busy popular cosmopolitan seaside resort attracting thousands of visitors every year.
Fuengirola is known to be an upmarket resort with many classy restaurants and tapas bars, classy boutiques and excellent beaches. It is no wonder then that Fuengirola attracts the more discerrning holiday maker.
The beaches of Fuengirola consists of a seven kilometre stretch of white sandy blue flag beaches which begins at Sohail castle in the west to Torreblanca in the east. There is also a fantastic promenade with bars and restaurants and beach shops selling all the necessary accessories needed for a good day at the beach. Fuengirola has fantastic facilities including a sports complex and an extensive yacht harbour.
Fuengirola has a large diverse permanent population with many North-Africans having made Fuengirola their new home. Of the 72 000 permanent residents 75 % are Spanish while the northern Europeans, Moroccans and Argentines make up the other 25%. The British make up most of the visitors to Fuengirola during the tourist season.
Fuengirola weather has an almost sub tropical climate and is known to have excellent weather all year round with long hot summers and mild winters so what ever time of year you visit you are sure to have good weather. Many ex pats have made Fuengirola their home and owing to the building boom there are many apartments and villas to rent. Many apartments are located here on golf complexes which is very much typical for apartments on the Costa Del Sol.
The main tourist attraction in Fuengirola is their zoo which has been extensively renovated over the last few years and now animals can be seen in their natural habitats instead of cramped cages.
