People who want to build their own toy can choose from engines ranging from 2.4 horsepower up to 9 horsepower, with a recoil start and optional cable hook-up for a kill switch. Engines are certainly not the only go kart parts which enthusiasts like to change out; replacement parts like brake pads or tires are readily available in many different levels of quality, as well as chains, sprocket hubs, body panels, and carburetors. Any part that is built into the go kart can be found, and many that are not.
Custom go karts and competitive or friendly track races have become hugely popular, and more innovative options will continue to find their way to the market.
