Every year, there are thousands and thousands of parents who are left trying to desperately find the hottest Christmas toys for their kids, and they are unable to because they didn't plan ahead.  There are some toys that become so popular, that the company who makes the toy didn't even expect it and there is a shortage.  Luckily, there are a few ways to ensure that you get one of the hottest toys for your kids this year.

One of the first ways to ensure that you get one of the hot Christmas toys is to buy it early.  Find out what your kids want for Christmas a few months before.  That way you can buy online at places like Amazon well before everyone else is trying to buy the same toy.  The benefit of doing this is that you'll know for sure that you have the toy, instead of having to go from store to store to check and see if they have one available.  This can be very difficult, especially if you have kids.  By doing your shopping online and a few months before, you'll be able to ensure that you get what you want.  Plus, you can usually use the free shipping options, since even if it is slower, you'll still have plenty of time.

Another option is to endure Black Friday and be at the store a few hours before it opens.  That way, you can get in line, and get inside and buy the toys before anyone else does.   You'll probably be able to get a great deal if you do this, but it does require extra planning, waiting, and some attitude to make sure you get the toys you want.

Lastly, if all else fails, you can look on Craigslist and eBay right before Christmas, but you'll end up paying a premium for the toys that your kids want.  It is best just to do your shopping online a few months ahead and be done.
