Now to understand these terms completely; it's important to understand what they mean. With debit consolidation, you continue to pay your bills; only you have them brought together under one bill through a 3rd party that specializes in negotiating between creditors and their clients. If you choose to consolidate, you should find that your monthly payments go down, and you can expect to be debt free in 12 to 36 months. Each payment you make to your 3rd party negotiator will be a step toward better credit.
When you consolidate through the 3rd party, the 3rd party debits one sum and then pays out, from that one sum, all your creditors. They also debit their fees! You end up paying them and your creditors in one payment. Debit elimination means you change your manner of spending and paying back debt. You don't buy on credit, you pay cash, you pay extra on the months that you can. Doing this enables you to pay off your debt much faster and raise your credit score much faster.
Debit elimination doesn't require a 3rd party to get rid of your debt; it requires you to adjust your way of spending. You curtail spending and spend only that which you have, nothing more. This method of getting rid of debt requires that you draw up a plan to eliminate your debt and a resolution to stick to it. Some people feel that debit consolidation is their only hope. Lots of times it may be. But, if you would call up your creditors, most of them will adjust your due dates. You can divide up your debts between paydays and pay off your debt faster than would you choose to consolidate. There are some credit card companies that will help you adjust your payments even, if you talk to them. They can put a freeze on the credit card and keep the account open only to pay off your balance.
Choosing one method over another will all depend upon your will power and ability to keep to a program. If you are a habitual shopper and no matter how hard you try you cannot resist buying; then, debit consolidation will be the better program. Having a 3rd party will keep you responsible as they will call you and check on your progress. 3rd parties that consolidate your debt give all kinds of counseling and support. If you have the ability to stick to your own homemade debit elimination plan; you will be the better for doing this. More than likely, the plan you come up with will have you debt free faster than if you relied on the 3rd party debit consolidation program. The choice is yours, only you know how much you have to work with and your own limitations when it comes to sticking to a spending plan.
