How to Pick a Good Quality Acai Berry Juice

The quality of an acai juice can vary considerably depending on the company selling it. There are a handful of companies on the market that are selling really high quality acai juice. However, there are more than a handful that are not, misleading us in the way they advertise their products.

Two Kinds of Acai Juice
Acai juice can either come in the form of a puree or a squeezed juice. Most of the acai juices on the market are actually the puree, this is basically the whole of the fruit, minus the seed pureed into a juice. This is the most nutritious option, providing its good quality, because you are actually consuming the whole fruit pulp. Squeezed acai juice can also be nutritious, but never as nutritious as the whole fruit puree. Many nutrients are lost in the discarded pulp after the juice is extracted, especially fiber. Squeezed juice is often further processed through filtering, to remove the cloudiness of the juice. Another process that lowers nutrient content. However, there are still some high quality squeezed acai juice options available, such as Brazilian Botanical's Brazilian Acai Juice.

Quality Check List
1) How much actual acai is in the juice? There are companies out there that advertise their juice as 'acai juice', but when you look at the label you will find its mixed with other stuff. Often acai is not even the biggest ingredient, diplaced by blueberries or grape juice usually.

2) Added Sugar. Acai is a low sugar fruit and is often desecrated with the addition of various forms of sugar (as are many foods). Other concentrated fruit juices are added, or syrups, or fructose to make it sweeter - and unhealthier.

3) Look for Organic Certified. There are several quality companies, such as the USDA, that only give their certification to environmentally sound food producers. This way you know you are buying a product that is not polluting the Amazonian natural home of acai, and that your product will not contain harmful pesticides.

4) Get it at the store! Many of the scamming/spamming companies who sell acai, only do so online. The company or their products are not reputable enough or of high enough quality to be considered for sale by health food stores.

Recommended Companies
There are two companies, I would recommend, that adhere to the above mentioned guidelines - Sambazon and Amazon Thunder. If you would like more information about acai juice, you can also visit acai fruit juice.
