Indoor Puppy Play Pen vs. Outdoor Puppy Play Pen

Deciding on whether or not you need an indoor puppy play pen or an outdoor puppy play pen can be an easy decision for numerous reasons. The line tends to blur when it comes down to what actually constitutes and indoor or an outdoor puppy play pen and you will find many owners using one type of puppy pen for both uses.

An indoor puppy play pen can be one of two things: a sealed off enclosure or a gate that keeps the dog confined to a small area or space. If your puppy is using a gated enclosure or something that can confine it while acting like a crate, then you should find yourself being able to use it outdoors without a problem. If your puppy play pen is more like a baby gate then obviously it will be too small for outdoor use, however, if it is able to be broken apart into sections then you can get away using it unless you feel that your dog could jump over it.

An outdoor puppy play pen can more easily be used indoors, especially if it comes built in sections. The whole idea behind using puppy pens is to act as a way for your dog to develop good behavioral habits from a very young age. On top of these uses, they are often called a puppy exercise pen because they provide your puppies with a safe area to play, grow and develop into responsible dogs.

You should always watch over your puppies in their pens to ensure that they don't begin to chew it or destroy it in any way as it can result in a medical emergency. Deciding which puppy pens are right for you is a very personal choice but getting one that can double as both an indoor puppy play pen and an outdoor puppy play pen is ideal.
