When they first came out, mp3 players were very expensive. Even the flash players with only 4 gigabytes were costly. Finding an inexpensive mp3 player was a challenge for consumers. These days, however, anybody can afford one! Furthermore, everybody can afford a GOOD one, depending on the brand and where it is sold.

Some of the most expensive brands, such as Apple iPod, Creative MuVo, and Microsoft Zune, are even affordable when consumers take advantage of promotional offers. Those who are not concerned with all the “extras”, such as games, apps, and instant messaging, can opt for an older version of a popular mp3 player. While it is almost impossible to find an iPod Touch for less than $200, consumers can find plenty of 4th and 5th Generation iPod Nanos for less than $100!

Another thing to consider when searching for cheap players is the number of gigabytes. Approximately 200-250 songs add up to 1 GB. Those who do not have very many songs can get away with less than 8 GBs. Of course, some players can be used to store videos and images as well, so the consumer needs to determine how much space overall he or she will need.

Shoppers who are only seeking an inexpensive player to hold them over until they can afford something more expensive may be interested in generic or unnamed brands. Some of them are actually pretty good! No, they probably will not last as long as a superior brand, but they are okay for consumers who have a limited budget.

Last but not least, refurbished players are significantly less expensive than brand new ones. Refurbished does not necessarily mean that the product has flaws – it could have simply been returned to the manufacturer due to overstocking. Sometimes customers change their minds for various reasons and return the players still in their packages!

Obviously, there are a few ways to obtain an inexpensive mp3 player. There is no need to pay a fortune for one this day and age, with so many competing retailers. There are literally thousands of different players out on the market, used and new, available at reasonable prices.
