There is no doubt that being able to get free IT training is a “god-send” for those looking for work or who desire to upgrade their skills. In fact, a sound grasp of information technology is the key to getting ahead in the competitive job market these days.
Skills are in demand both in offices and for online business both large and small that depend on their computers to survive, and nothing is worse than when they go down. This is true when it comes to fax machines and other electronics, which have become part of everyday modern life.
In fact, when these fail for any reason, they can, literally cripple businesses until they are up and running again. That is why most employers today are more prone to hire people who can demonstrate their knowledge of a wide variety of technological abilities. In fact, recent surveys have shown that companies who encourage their staff to obtain more advanced IT training are the ones more likely to get ahead in the marketplace. In addition, these same studies have shown that the demand for these skills is actually growing faster than the amount of people graduating from training programs.
So, why aren’t more people taking the necessary classes? The main reason seems to be price. With so many people out of work, and money, in general, very tight, a lot just can’t afford them. In addition, although many employers are looking for trained workers, they are unwilling to help defray the cost. Time is another factor. Either employees don’t have the time to physically go to schools, or their bosses won’t let them take training “on company time.” What they may not realize, however, is the amount of “no-cost” training now available online.
However, before enrolling in any programs, it is a good idea to do a little investigating into the background of the “schools” offering them to make sure they are offering legitimate programs. You should be able to find a number of resources offering free IT training and certification in such areas as JavaScript, A+ training, business management and customer service, PHP and MySQL, Basic.Net visual training courses, Excel, Windows 2003 server, and even free courses in leadership that teach people how to create and communicate better. Others also involve Quickbooks, Network +, Sybase and C/C++ development skills. Many of these sites will also allow you to take a sample class before you sign up to help you decide which is the right one for you.
