Eventually, everyone will need to open a checking account. This is especially true as we progress through life onto our careers or chosen professions. Having a savings account is great, but we soon find out that we need more services and facilities that can only be offered by a checking account that make life easier to live. Many banks often offer new checking account promotions to entice and encourage you to open that checking account with them.
Once you have decided to open a checking account, be sure to manage it very shrewdly and frugally. Always conduct your transactions responsibly. Be committed to making sound financial decisions. Stick strictly to any agreed dates of repayments of loans and of any overdrafts as all of these are recorded and will be the basis for the bank on whether to grant you credit or not.
It is strongly advisable that when you receive any amount of money as part of any checking account promotion not to spend it, but rather keep it in the checking account and reserve it as a buffer for a "rainy day", i.e.: when you may be short on making a payment. This is what is called a ‘slush fund’. The bigger your slush fund is the more financial security you have. This leads to a better credit profile and credit worthiness.
There are so many things that we waste our money on. Many times the way we spend our money may even be unhealthy for our own bodies and at times just plain vanity. Some of us even spend just for the sake of spending. If we can just abstain from these unnecessary things for a few months, we would be able to save a lot. This extra money that we save can then be deposited into our checking accounts and when applying for a loan, the bank will then glean from your account financial discipline, credit worthiness, and a capacity to repay the loan or bond you applied for.
By showing financial discipline, being frugal with the way we spend our money, and saving rewards from any checking account promotions or a savings account bonus (for new savings accounts), we soon find out that we may be driving the car of our dreams and living in our own dream house. We might even find ourselves spending that great vacation we truly deserve. Great opportunities come to those who do not waste them.
