This PC Booster review looks at the latest 2010 version to see how well it operates at speeding up PC performance.
Previous versions of PC Booster had always been well received by PC owners as a simple way to modify registry and system settings in an effort to optimize Windows.
Ease of Use
The new version is just as simple to use as previous editions. The download and installation (install-shield based) takes 2 minutes to complete. Once started, PC Booster has the auto-tune mode for beginners and plenty of advanced options for the technically proficient.
The auto-tune is a good option to start with to tune the majority of settings you would be interested in (hardware configuration, internet connection options, boot up services, etc.). The application provides some before and after performance graphs to show what difference the changes make. Depending on the age of your PC, and how much tweaking you do, this could provide a nice boost in performance.
Customer Support
The Inkline Global website has a section for PC Booster covering technical FAQs, advice, video tutorials and sales support.
Extra Features
One extra feature that I was delighted to see was the RAM optimization button/feature. As you are using your computer there are some applications (e.g. browsers running Flash based sites) that can have real trouble releasing the RAM memory after changing page. Where previously, it was necessary to close the application, and possibly restart Windows, the ‘Free RAM’ button can clear out the redundant memory for you.
Problems/Complaints
One new feature that was added to this version was the hard disk repair tool. While it is great to have this function combined in with the one PC Booster tool, a lot of computer owners will already running their own disk defragmentation and check disk scans.
Summary
The simplicity of PC Booster has been its strongest point over all its versions. It does exactly what it claims to do – speed up PC performance. While it may not be able to compete with the likes of Reimage for the breadth of PC repairs it can complete, it does provide a great way of making a healthy PC run faster.
