Protein powder smoothies are great as a nutritious post workout snack or really, anytime! Mixing your protein powder with different fruits and other nutritious supplements can make for tasty and healthy blends.
Strawberry and Banana Protein Smoothie
1/2 cup of strawberries - frozen or fresh
1 scoop of whey protein powder - unflavored
1 banana
1/2 cup of 2% milk
1 and 1/2 cups of ice
Put everything in a blender and blend! This is a great post workout shake. Whey protein is the most easily digested of proteins, so it's quickly absorbed into your muscles for growth and repair. The banana and strawberries give you the carbohydrates needed to regain your energy. If you only eat protein after your workout, some of that protein will be used for energy and not muscle building. Carbohydrates also aid in the delivery of protein to the muscles.
Low Carb Protein Shake
2 scoops of chocolate whey protein powder
3 tablespoons of chunky peanut butter
1 tablespoon of olive oil
1 cup of water
Put in the blender and enjoy. This is a great shake for a low-carb diet. It is also good as an in between meal snack for body builders who don't want to gain too much body fat from excess carbs.
Chocolate Protein Coffee Shake
2 scoops of chocolate whey protein powder
1 tablespoon of instant coffee or coffee essence
1 cup of 2% skim milk
1 cup of ice cubes
1 cup of water
A great protein shake for caffeine lovers. Put everything in the blender and blend!
Nonfat Antioxidant Protein Shake
2 scoops of 100% vanilla whey protein powder
3/4 cup of blueberries
1/2 cup of raspberries
1/2 cup of strawberries
16 oz of non-fat milk
1/2 cup of ice
Blend everything together and enjoy. Berries are loaded with powerful antioxidants and vitamin C. Blueberries in particular are very high in antioxidants called anthocyanins, which help to keep us younger longer.
Protein Peaches and Cream
1 scoop of unflavored protein powder
1 peach
8 oz of water
8 drops of liquid stevia
2 tablespoons of low fat sour cream (or yogurt if you prefer)
1 tablespoon of maca
Blend everything together and serve. This is a tasty, yet low calorie smoothie.
