Sales Jobs of the Future

The economy is changing.  Some jobs are being outsourced to India and China, while others are just simply disappearing off the map.  But one job that will always be around is sales.  It's the next oldest profession.  The following are some of the sales jobs that will stick around for at least the next few decades.

Insurance Sales

One of the things that will never go away is insurance.  You can't outsource selling insurance to another country.  It's one of those rare few jobs that a certain amount will still need to be done face to face.

The other factor in insurance sales is that it's a business of trust.  It's a huge factor in this business.  Trust must be built with face to face meetings, and there is nothing that can really substitute for that.  Insurance requires personal financial and other kinds of information, where trust is a big component.

Financial Sales

Yes, you can outsource financial sales because it can be done on the phone and the internet.  But again, it's another situation where being able to offer a live financial advisor is a huge advantage.  In addition, as people age and retire, financial sales reps become all the more important.  People will always need investing advice and they will all need to get their financial products from somewhere.

Technology Sales

Technology or technical sales is another thing that won't go away for a while.  Whether it's an outside sales job or not, it doesn't really matter.  It's something that is hard to outsource, and here is why.

When a company is a high tech start up company, they have to do sales.  But the sales model is constantly changing, as well as the product and the business model as a whole.  You can't outsource sales when it is constantly changing.  There is a huge inefficiency if you're in a stage where you have to be nimble and versatile.
