The 3 Man Backpacking Tent Challenge

A backpack adventure! Is there anything more exciting to do that involves nature, bonding with family or friends, and seeing a world so different from city life. Naturally, you need a place to sleep at night, so part of your backpack (a big part) should be allotted as space for your tent. Here’s an idea – instead of each one bringing his own tent, why not share a tent, and save on precious space?

One person could carry the 3 man backpack tent, while the other two carry camping essentials like water, food, first aid, and toiletries. It would be the ultimate bonding experience, so make sure you all get along pretty well before the trip. This is because there is a chance something might go wrong, and you need to patch relationships. Having a solid friendship will mean any bump during the trip will not affect your relationship.

Of course, it is important when buying a 3 man backpack tent, that you all get into the picture. One reason is height. Unless you’re all the same height, you need to consider the comfort of the tallest person in the group, so that he or she does not have to sleep cramped up in a fetus position.

Another reason is budget and who pays for the tent. If its a sharing deal, then decide who gets to store the tent, and becomes responsible for it when not in use. One idea you could consider is having a budget for all the things you, as a group, might need during the trip, and buy them as a package. This way, you all own a part of the camping package, and not have to spend too much individually.

When choosing your tent, make sure it has good ventilation with mesh panels to keep the bugs away. It should also have solid flooring, be light and have some storage features so you can tuck in some of your essentials nearby.

Keep in mind that sometimes the hardest part about a backpack tent is folding it up and storing it. With this in mind, why not make sure you are all given a demo on how to bring down and fold up your tent. The reason storage is very important is because you won’t be using this tent that often, and so improper handling and storage might damage the tent, and make it difficult to set up on your next trip.

Finally, when setting up your tent, never set it near a road or trail. Always find a safe spot where there is not much foot traffic. If you are planning to go to a camping site, it might also not be a very good idea to set up your tent near the showers and toilets.
