Guitarists can run into real problems when looking for an instrument which will meet their needs, it’s hard to spot the gems from the rotten eggs when there are so many to choose from. This is even harder when looking for an electric acoustic guitar because so many of them produce less than average tones when played through amp. This article is intended to shed some light on what in my opinion is one of the best acoustic guitar models currently in production, the Ibanez EW20BGE.
The Ibanez EW20BGE electro acoustic isn’t exactly an entry level instrument, it costs over £300 which doesn’t make it very attractive to first time buyers, but if you take the time to play the instrument you will realize why it is one of the best acoustic guitar models on the market. The EW20BGE produces a brilliant tone which can match that of higher end models; what's more, this guitar actually maintains its high quality when played through an amp.
The problem most electric acoustic guitars have is that they sound great when played in an unplugged setting, but as soon as they are plugged into an amplifier that great tone diminishes and is replaced by a low quality version of its former self. This not the case with the Ibanez EW20BGE, its pickups are equipped with a SRTn’s notch filter-equipped feedback reduction system which means there is no screeching or loss of quality when playing at even the highest volume levels. This is why I believe the EW20BGE to be the best acoustic guitar in production, it can authentically replicate the great clean sound of an acoustic guitar even when played through an amp, a feat which the majority of electro acoustic guitars simply fail to do. It just goes to show that you can find great sounding cheap guitars.
The Ibanez EW20BGE is suitable for both beginners and advanced players; its relatively low price tag means it can be used as a a far superior beginner’s guitar or a great performing backup guitar for more experienced players. It’s incredibly authentic acoustic tone, great looks and incredible playability is the reason I personally believe this instrument to be the best acoustic guitar in its price range, this combined with its rather modest price tag makes it a real gem.
