There are three types of donations that the church must manage and keep in mind. The first type of donation is called unrestricted funds. As the name suggests, the funding is unrestricted and allows the church to utilize it to the fullest. The church can use unrestricted funds on whatever matter they see best; whether that be for infrastructure, maintenance, and/or funding missions.

The second type of donation is called a semi-restricted fund. It is called semi-restricted because donors want the money to go to a certain project that is in their interest. A good example is when a donor gives money and wants the money to be used to fund a certain church project. This type of donation is very common in practice.

The last type of donation is the permanently restricted fund. These are the funds that go directly to the bank and are kept there permanently. The church can never use the total amount of money that has been deposited into that bank account. The interest money that has grown from the permanently restricted fund is the only money that the church can utilize. This allows the church to always have money to use and allows it to grow even when there is a decrease in donations. This type of funding can also be called an investment because the donors invest on the church for it to grow more.

In order for the church to manage these types of funds, the church has to have good management capabilities. One way for the church to manage finances is to utilize the resources available in today’s time such as computers. The computer has been around for decades and has proven itself to be a good helping hand. The development of church contribution software has allowed a lot of churches to quickly manage the funds with fewer mistakes.

In order for a church to survive in modern times, it has to cope with the current trends. Not only is church software useful, it allows the church to expand and grow even more.
