From the earliest diesel-powered models, Mercedes-Benz cars have always been a defining standard of German craftsmanship. Whether purchased new or used, Mercedes-Benz is an assurance of quality, reliability and longevity.
One of the prominent Mercedes model lines was originally short for Einspritzmotor(German for "fuel-injected"). They eventually adapted the E prefix, siring the line of Mercedes cars now known as the E Class (E Klasse) in 1994. Designed with extended wheelbase and passenger area, the Mercedes E Class is favorable for both family and executive functions.
Today's Mercedes E Class is a far cry from the boxy, prim sedans of yesterday. With a facelift for the year 2010 the Mercedes E Class stepped fully into place as a desirable luxury sedan packed with features and at a price listed lower than the previous year's model.
This new model's beauty is more than just skin deep. Improved aerodynamics and handling sweeten the deal for the seeking buyer. For the green crowd, there's better fuel economy; for the safety conscious, Brake Assist Plus can help avoid a collision in a critical situation. Other high-tech assistance systems can be recognized from the top-line S Class, including Attention Assist, Blind Spot Assist, and Lane Keeping Assist. Cooled and heated massaging seats are also available.
Starting at just under $50k, the entry model E350 bridges the difference between quality and price for the distinguished buyer. The E550 model is a nice step up with a starting price of about $57k.
The smallest engine is the 3.5L, which cranks out 268 hp yet still achieves just under 30 mpg in fuel economy. The 5.5L V-8 is also available, affording 382 hp with 0-60 in about 5 seconds.
Drive train is available as rear-wheel drive or an all-wheel-drive option, offering superior traction on uneasy terrain. Optional on the base model but standard on the 5.5L E550, leveling air springs offer customizable riding options from comfort to sport range.
Future planned releases for the Mercedes E Class include a 525 hp AMG E63, a coupe, and a wagon. Whatever the form may be, the Mercedes E Class has always been recognized as a solid, dependable car. Thanks to the new body and fuel economy, it most assuredly will hold a place in both the personal driveway and the executive fleet.
