Tracking Cell Phones With Glympse

Today I'd like to tell you about a very cool cell phone tracking service called Glympse.  This free cell phone tracker is different than many others free cell phone trackers  in that it is only designed to give permission to specific people to track your cell phone for very short intervals.  Actually you can give permission for people to track your cell phone for up to four at hours at a time.

You might be asking yourself why anyone would want to use a service that only allowed people to track a cell phone for a few hours.  There are actually several reasons that you might.  The primary reason is that there are many occasions when you want someone to be able to know where you are  and when you will be arriving at your destination but you don't want them calling you constantly to ask where you are or how long it's going to be before you get there.

With the Glympse cell phone tracker,  you simply log onto the Glympse website and send a text message or e-mail to the people that you want to give permission to track your phone to.  While you're doing this, you will enter your destination into the Glympse system.  When the people receive the text message or e-mail, they will be able to click on a link in it which will take them to the Glympse website.  On the Glympse website, they will see your exact location, your rate of travel, your estimated time of arrival, and the remaining time that they have to track your cell phone.

The people who receive the text messages are not required to install any special software on their phone in order to be able to track you but you must have the Glympse software installed on your cell phone.  Currently the system supports any Google Android powered cell phones, Windows Mobile powered cell phones, and the iPhone.  The company has plans in the works to support other mobile devices but for now these are the only devices that are currently supported.
