Treating Back Acne

People who have acne on the face are also more susceptible to have back acne as well. This type of acne similar to the facial acne but are found usually from your shoulders towards your back parts. Normally these manifests themselves in men, but women are also experiencing such acne.

Treating back acne is not the same as treating your facial acne. First, the back skin is thicker than your facial skin; it means that mild treatments may not be as effective. But the good news is, since the skin is thicker you may use stronger scrubbing sponge or exfoliants that you normally would refrain from using on your face.

Second, it produces more oil and perhaps even severe acne because they have larger sebaceous glands. Thus it is often said that acne found at the back needs more serious attention than those on the face.

The best cure is still prevention. Here are some few tips that show you how to treat back acne.

Change clothes daily. Though they may not be as dirty  as you think, sweat and dirt rests on your shirt especially the collar which could inhibit acne.

Avoid skin irritation always. Some people are irritated with brand tags at the collar of your shirt, if necessary remove them to avoid getting itchy feeling on the back. Avoid scratching as well.

The most neglected skin is our back since it is quite difficult to reach out and scrub them. Buy bath scrubs with long handles so that you could wash your back properly.

When you perspire heavily, make sure to change into dry clothes immediately, especially if you could not take baths right away. This may be a bit childlike, but baby powder actually helps in absorbing sweat and oil.

These things may sound simple enough but perhaps you may have overlooked them and now you already have acne. In treating them, you might want to try treatments a step more complex than your facial skin treatments since the skin here is not as sensitive anyway.

For mild treatments, products with alpha hydroxy acid should do the trick. However for moderate to extreme acne cases you could use a combination of benzoyl peroxide and alpha hydroxy acid.
