Just take note of when your jaw is clenching, usually you will be stressing about something. Is it because of the people you're around? Is it the place you're at or does it happen only at certain times? Take note of these things and when you feel your jaw clenching, take a few minutes to sit back and try to relax. You can do this easily by closing your eyes, breathing deeply and concentrating all your mind on the sound of your breath going in and out of your lungs. This is a very effective form of relaxation that will relieve tension in your entire body and your jaw can move back to its natural position.

What another major cause of jaw clenching pain? Bad posture. When you stand or sit, are you slouching at all? Most people do slouch, even if only a little. The problem with this is that it puts too much pressure on the smaller muscles that aren't supposed to be used for holding yourself up. You need to use big muscles like the ones in your back, abs and general core area around your lower back. As well as this, keep your shoulder back and your eyes straight ahead. Now take notice of the way this affects your jaw. You should notice a slight relaxation in tension. Continue sitting or standing like this and your jaw will thank you for it.
