Two Types of Portable Projector Screens

If you plan on doing presentations in multiple locations, or you need to take your home cinema screen down from time to time, you're going to need a portable projector screen.  These screens are light and retractable and can be easily transported from location to location, or stored away when not in use.  There are two different kinds of portable projector screens; pull down, and pull up.

Pull down screens are the type of screens most people are used to seeing.  These come in the form of a tripod projector screen that can be set up in only a couple of minutes.  Sometimes the tripod is attached to the screen itself, and other times it comes as a separate component.  This type of screen is often less expensive than a pull-up screen, which is why you will see them more often.  They are also heavier, as a result of the stand, and they take a bit longer to set up than the other type of portable screen.

Pull up screens are a more convenient way to transport your projection screen.  These screens are lighter and easier to set up because there's no additional stand to deal with.  You simply set the case on the ground, open up the top, and pull the screen to its height.  Retracting it and taking it down requires on pull of a cord, and the whole thing is back in its case.  It can be set up in less than 30 seconds, and torn down even quicker.  They tend to run a bit more expensive than the tripod, pull-down versions, but if you're looking for additional convenience, then you want this type of screen.

Between the two types of screens, the pull-up projector screen is superior in every way except price.  If you can afford the additional cost, a pull up screen will provide you with a lifetime of easy portable viewing.  The pull down screens are an acceptable alternative, but they simply do not compare to ease and convenience of the pull up screen.
