It's hard to ignore the mini notebook. It seems like they're all over the internet, media, Sunday ad's and even the local coffee shop. You've probably said to yourself how cool or cute they are and wondered what they're like. Today we're going to go over the two most popular sizes of the netbook. The two models are the mini notebook 9 and mini notebook 10 inch models. We'll look at some of the advantages and disadvantage of each size and hopefully help you figure out which one best fits your needs.
Screen Size - The screen size differences between a mini notebook 9 and 10 inch model don't seem like a lot when you look at just the numbers. 1 inch doesn't seem to be a large number and when you're comparing a 20 and 21 inch monitor it's not, but when it comes to the much smaller sizes laptop screen such as these, 1 inch is a big difference. The resolution however is usually the same which means anything you see on the 9 inch notebook screen will be larger on the 10 inch. The downside is with the bigger screen size also comes the larger overall size of the mini laptop computer. Here is a quick question to ask yourself that will help you figure out which is best for you. Are you looking for the ultimate is portability and small size above everything else? If so get the 9 inch. Otherwise my personal recommendation is to find a nice 10 inch mini notebook. I'll touch on some of the other reasons why a 10 inch model will be a great choice in awhile.
Keyboard Size - This is "that other reason" why a 10 inch model is the better choice. When mini notebooks first came out they mostly had 7 inch screens and eventually they evolved into the 9 inch screen, but the keyboard size stayed the same. Then 10 inch models of the mini laptop started to surface and people were loved them, not because of the screen or design, but because they keyboard wasn't miniature. I've owned and typed on both the mini notebook 10 and 9 inch models. I can't begin to tell you how much better the 10 inch model is to type on. Now the same question applies here as to the screen size. Unless you are looking for the smallest model possible, the 10 inch is the overall better choice.
Those are really the two main factors that people seem to wonder about when trying to decide on which model to purchase. If I set a 9 and 10 inch mini notebook next to each other, they would look to similar in size and yet they function so different. I will admit though that when the mini laptop first came out I got sucked into wanted the smaller model I could find and after about 1 week of typing on it I was kicking myself for not going with the 10 inch model mini notebook.
