Today a lot of people claim they can get you out of debt by negotiating with your creditors or some debt program that will get you out of debt in no time.  However as many of these programs that are out there many are not proven to really work.

The Baby Steps Plan

The baby steps plan is easy to use and is broken down into 7 well defined parts to help you conquer your debt issues.  The seven steps go as follows, however their is one rule you must follow for this all to work.  No matter what you do you must follow each step in the same order.

• Save $1000 as fast as you can.  This is done to keep you from living paycheck to paycheck.
• Run a debt snowball plan and pay off all of your debt except your mortgage.
• Finish building your emergency fund.  Once your debt is paid off continue saving up for your emergency fund until you have enough money to cover 6 months worth of your expenses.
• Save for your retirement.  Saving for your retirement should come high on your list.  If all you did was worry about paying off your debt and never saved a dime to retire on you'll never get ahead in life.  You should save at least 15% of what you earn to retire well.
• Save for college funding.  Paying for your child's education is very important if you want them to get ahead in life.   Set up 529 plan to get started today.
• Pay off your mortgage.  Now that you have your retirement under control and money being set back for your child's education you can now pay off your mortgage in full.
• Give back to others.  The final step to this process is the most rewarding. Giving back to others is a great way to spread the wealth and encourage others to follow in your footsteps to greatness.
