Why a Humane Rat Trap is the best Choice

As anyone who has ever had a rodent problem knows all too well, getting rid of these pesky little critters is the number one priority.  Having said that, there are a number of different ways that you can go about accomplishing this goal.  Some methods instantly kill the rat.  Other methods cause the poor thing to suffer for an extended period of time before finally succumbing. You don't need to resort to such cruelty, however.  The best way to rid your house of rats and mice is to use a humane rat trap.

While many people are quick to laugh at humane traps, the truth is that they are the most ethical choice.  In addition, many people who buy snap traps or glue traps feel very guilty once they have caught a rodent.  We live in a world where it is quite common for families to keep rodents as pets.  Many have pet hamsters, guinea pigs, or even rats and mice.  Why do their wild cousins deserve to die such cruel deaths simply because they happen to be in the house looking for food?

It is very easy to trap rats and mice and then release them again.  Most traps that you can buy are very easy to set up and open.  If you have trapped something, all you need to do is take it far away from your house and release it.  It is important to know that rats and mice need to live near a source of water, so if you have a wooded creek or river nearby, that is a perfect place to let them go.

Finally, using other types of traps can be downright dangerous.  If you have small children or pets around, putting out rat poison can cause fatal accidents if children eat it.  Likewise, other animals are attracted to the poison as well, since it exudes a tasty odor.  The same thing goes for snap traps.  Those made for rats are pretty big and strong.  If a toddler accidentally steps on one it can break bones in the foot.  The same goes for a cat or dog.  For these reasons, it is the smart choice to choose humane traps.
