Why Buying A Used Car Makes Sense

If you are thinking about purchasing a car you should take a look at a used one instead of buying new.  My best care ever was a used volkswagen golf.  It was in great shape and I drove it for almost 60,000 miles before getting rid of it and I only sold it because I wanted to try something new.  The car was still running great and really hadn't cost much at all to upkeep over the years.

The biggest plus to buying a used car over a new one is the loss in value that occurs as soon as you drive a brand new car off of the lot.  This amount can be several thousand dollars that just vanishes as soon as you sign the papers.  Why?  Because it is a used car now instead of a new car.  You can even experience the situation where a new car you have may only show 50 miles on the odometer and another car on the lot have 300 miles from test drives, and your car would have thousands of dollars less value because your car has sold, and is thus a used car, while the other auto is technically still a new car.

I have also met a lot of people who will only buy used cars for another reason.  They feel that a used car has got all the "bugs worked out of it."  This means the originally owner has probably fixed all the problems that have shown up with the car so it is in good shape now.  They have also had all the warranty issues taken car of.
