Why I Quit My Job

Too many people spend their lives working at a job they detest.  We are easily confused on what is important in our lives and this keeps us locked into working at jobs that we aren’t satisfied with.  The bills have to be paid at the end of the month, right?  So we arrive at our jobs each morning with the mindset that it’s only 8 hours out of 24, not the end of the world; and so goes another day.  We struggle through and try to make the best of it so we get to that paycheck prize at the end of the week.

Usually, by the time we’ve got that paycheck in our hands we’ve had a miserable enough week that we believe that we deserve a special treat for making it to payday.  And so the cycle begins…spend part of our wages on drinks, clothes, jewelry; whatever it is that makes us feel better after being so miserable all week.  This little habit of rewarding ourselves can add up to an entire day’s pay, or more.  What’s left will go towards the expenses for the month and we feel better for the weekend.  Monday starts the same as the previous one; miserable at work but suck it up and make it through to payday…wash, rinse, repeat.

I became aware at mid-life that this is a ridiculous cycle and that’s when I finally decided to quit my job.  One third of my life shouldn’t be spent doing something I dislike.

Making plans to quit your job should be approached with a very detailed course of action.  Sure, you can just go find another job but will the same scenario begin to repeat itself?  I made a conscious effort to learn new ways of working that wouldn’t involve answering to someone else and basing my existence around a payday.  I spent years planning and looking into possible options.  I learned to live on less and minimize my expenses.  During this period I began learning how to successfully implement passive income opportunities to create multiple streams of income that can continue to gain momentum in the future.  I’ve not looked back with any regret.  Think about how you plan to spend your future if you’re not okay with your current job situation.  There are many opportunities available for any kind of situation you might find yourself in.  Be persistent and stay focused on your goals.
