why you should make the switch from a twin bed

Twin bedding has been rapidly declining in popularity as of late. The biggest reason is the extremely small size of a twin size bed. The standard measure for a US twin size bed is 39 inches by 75 inches. If you have ever slept in a twin size bed you know that this is barely enough room to fit a single person, and generally only fit for children, which is why you often see most twin bed sets will have kid themes printed on them.

So let us put this in perspective. The average human is approximately 5 feet 9 inches tall, with an average shoulder span of 1 foot 8 inches. That translates into 69 inches tall by 20 inches wide, leaving you with about 9 inches of room on both sides, and only a few inches above your head and below your feet. This will leave you with very little room for tossing and turning and zero comfort. In fact if you own a twin size mattress we definitely recommend you place it up against a wall to prevent yourself from falling off the bed during your sleep.

The price difference between a twin and a full size bed is not much and I definitely recommend you make the switch to a full size. You will experience increased comfort because you are able to actually move laterally on a full size bedding allowing you roll over and move around with out actually falling of the bed. You should know the better sleep council recommends that anyone over 5 feet 5 inches tall makes the switch to a queen size bed for maximum comfort during a sleep cycles.

Really the only actual advantage to owning a twin size bed it the you can often find an abundance of cheap bedding sets readily available in most retail locations, making purchasing and maintaining twin bedding relatively cheap. We do want to point out that most twin bed sets are usually childish in there theme and the best you can hope for as an adult is a solid color sheet set.
